Dr. Khurshid Ghani

Dr Khurshid Ghani is a Professor of Urology, and Co-Director of the Endourology Fellowship Program at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA. Dr. Ghani graduated from the University of Leeds and completed urology training in Edinburgh and London. He undertook a minimally invasive urologic surgery fellowship at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, following which he joined the University of Michigan in 2013. Dr Ghani has authored over 200 peer-reviewed articles, and his research focuses on endoscopic stone surgery and quality improvement. Specifically, he has been advancing a Dusting technique for ureteroscopy and has extramural funding to study laser lithotripsy in the laboratory. He is the Course Director of the annual Developments in Ureteroscopic Stone Treatment (D.U.S.T.) symposium, an international meeting that has exposed hundreds of urologists to advanced ureteroscopy techniques. He is also the Course Director of the American Urological Association annual laser course, Dust or Bust. Dr Ghani is the Director of the MUSIC collaborative, a statewide quality group in Michigan comprising over 260 urologists and 46 urology practices, with the goal to improve the quality of care for patients with kidney stones, prostate cancer and kidney cancer. Within MUSIC, he is the principal investigator of two randomized clinical trials assessing patient health-related quality of life and healthcare utilization after ureteroscopy and stenting. He is also an Assistant Editor for the Journal of Urology.
